Demand the Senate Abolish the Filibuster

For decades, the filibuster has been used to water down, delay, and defeat landmark civil rights legislation and anti-lynching bills. Today, the filibuster is used to grind the Senate to a halt and prevent almost any legislation without 60 senators backing it from passing.

Unless we act now, legislation with massive public support will continue to be blocked by the filibuster. This is not a partisan issue. The filibuster is an outdated Jim Crow relic that stands in the way of a functioning government and impedes meaningful progress on almost every issue.

If we want our government to be responsive to the will of the people and pass laws through both chambers of Congress, we must restore functionality to the Senate. That begins with eliminating the filibuster.

If the Senate doesn’t act now, Mitch McConnell will continue to block every piece of legislation put forward. I urge you to support abolishing the filibuster so we can make progress on important issues that affect Americans like me.
